Most of these photographs were taken by Godwin this past week and this weekend when both families got together over this deluxe cake that Isack, Moses and Elias made during their Cake and Pastry classes at the college in November. Schools out ’till mid January when they start the Food and Beverage class.

It has been a delight to watch twice now these three during their cooking classes. They are sincere and pay attention and the result is this lovely cake. Their first attempts at decorating were not quite so symmetrical and nor would mine have been. They certainly improved. At the college they are learning to bake in a oven in the fully equipped kitchen. At home food is prepared on three stones over an open fire. They are at ease with mobile phones and clay cooking pots.

May they land jobs that eventually allow for the creativity of this cake. They have a month and a half off now and I have tried to encourage to explore  potential future employment after their final course next April. They will not land top positions as they will compete with students taking the two year diploma but anything has got to be more stimulating than opening the gate as  watchmen.

You have so many wonderful photos, Tony. I just saw that I missed some from October…Miriam in her pretty dress, for instance. You soon go to your conference in Dodoma…a nice change of scenery. Have a great time.
